It's June...Make a Statement With a Vintage Pearl Bubble Ring!

Vintage 1960s Marvella Bubble Pearl Ring
As a child of the 1960s, this would have been my dream ring! At age 6 or so, I gave up piano lessons for my "Liberace" like style. A ring on every finger....and the bigger the better!
This is a photo of Liza Minellie from the April 1968 issue of Vogue Magazine. As you can see, she is wearing a Marvella bubble pearl ring. Just like the one that I have. So Mod!
Here is another view of the ring. Perched on top of a pedestal. The creamy pearl is over one inch in diameter! Massive! Signed "Marvella" on the mounting.
Pearls are the traditional birthstone for the month of June. This would    make the perfect gift for the June birthday girl or fashionista in your life.

Stop by Wicked Darling and check out my newly added treasures.

March - The Month For Bloodstone

Antique Victorian Bloodstone Fob

Most people associate the aquamarine as the birthstone for the month of March. But did you know that bloodstone is also the birthstone for the month of March? Bloodstone is also known as heliotrope. A green chalcedony with red flecks. The red flecks come from iron oxide present in the stone.
Back of Antique Victorian Bloodstone Fob
In ancient times, it was believed that bloodstone could stop hemorrhaging. It was also used to ward off negative energies.

This antique Victorian bloodstone fob is an excellent example of the beauty of bloodstone. The carved intaglio of a warrior is wonderful. Whether you believe the lore of the stone or not, it makes for a lovely piece of antique jewelry. So timeless. It could easily be worn by men or women. As a charm for a bracelet or placed on a chain or ribbon, to be worn as a necklace.

What Would Lady Mary Crawley Wear?

Antique 1920's Art Deco Sautoir

So I am totally hooked on Downton Abbey. Are you? The story line is incredible, but the draw for me is also the settings and the fashions. Lady Mary was wearing a long sautoir (or necklace) very similar to this one.

Antique 1920's Rose Dress Clip

For spring, maybe she would choose to wear this lovely rose dress clip. A dress clip makes the perfect accessory for a spring dress or perhaps a spring hat.

Antique 1920s Art Deco Ring

I am sure that she would love a beautiful ring for spring as well! This ring, being a "costume" ring from the 1920s, may have been "beneath" her standards. However, this beauty is perfect for anyone on a budget. It is truly from the 1920s and can give you the Downton Abbey look for less.
